About Compress Video
Compress Video shrinks the file size of your videos directly in the browser. It runs ffmpeg.wasm on your own device, so your footage is never uploaded to a server — the entire process happens locally and stays private.
You control the trade-off between size and quality using a CRF (Constant Rate Factor) value, an encoding preset, and an optional target resolution. Lower CRF means higher quality and a larger file; higher CRF means a smaller file with more compression. This makes it easy to fit a video under an email or upload size limit without re-exporting from your editor.
How to use Compress Video
- Select or drag a video file into the tool.
- Choose a CRF value, encoding preset, and optional target resolution.
- Start compression and wait for ffmpeg.wasm to process the file locally.
- Download the smaller video once it finishes.
